During our stay in Vancouver, we wanted to purchase a swimming t-shirt for our daughter from the UBC Swim Club. Our daughter is a competitive swimmer in St. Catherines, Ontario. Abe Marte of Guest Services was efficient in obtaining directions to the UBC Bookstore where we believed the t-shirts to be sold.

As we did not have a vehicle, Abe realized that helping us get to UBC was going to be a challenge. Abe contacted Bryan Steer in Housekeeping because he had thorough knowledge of the UBC campus. Bryan was advised of our wishes and he immediately took immense interest in our unusual request. He also took great care in obtaining as much detail from us as possible about what our daughter would like specifically and offered to make an effort on his own time to locate the swim team t-shirt.

Bryan not only succeeded in obtaining exactly what we hoped for, but he prepaid it from his own pocket and delivered it to us the following day. He had also offered to inquire about second shirt from the Vancouver Pacific Dolphin Swim Club. We agreed a second shirt would also be very much appreciated even though our daughter was already thrilled with the first one.

Again, during his days off at the hotel, Bryan made the necessary inquires and trips to the facility to purchase another shirt on our behalf and delivered it to us promptly upon his return to work. He delivered it personally to our room so as to not have us make a return trip upstairs as we were on our way out to have breakfast.

We wish to extend our sincere gratitude for the unselfish assistance of these two employees of your hotel whose time and effort into this matter went far and beyond what would be expected or hoped for, in that they travelled and made inquiries on their own time. Bryan Steer even went as far to prepay out of his own pocket expense to make it as most convenient for us as possible to assist us to obtain merchandise for our daughter.

Having complimented these two gentlemen in particular, we must also comment that all staff was extremely friendly, professional and helpful. We noticed on a daily basis that every hotel staff member we passed or had contact with greeted us with a smile in a friendly and approachable manner which made our stay very pleasurable.
