December 2007: Stacey Gauley of Hampton Inn & Suites Vancouver
Around November of 2006, my family stayed at the Hampton Inn Vancouver. We were in town because my 5 year old son needed to visit Children’s Hospital as he was going through cancer. Stacey went out of her way to make sure my family was happy and comfortable. She gave us directions and was constantly asking if we needed anything. The special thing she did for us was to send an email to the Vancouver Canucks, letting them know what our situation was. Markus Naslund sent us an email and even invited us to his suite for the next hockey game. My family was ecstatic, my son Nick was so excited; he loved the Canucks and even dreamt of being a hockey player.
The biggest thing Stacey made possible, was to get us accommodations at Canucks Place, a place for terminally ill children and their families. They treated my family with so much care and they knew exactly what we were going through. Stacey made it possible for my family to stay together until the end of my precious son’s life. He is now dancing with the angels.
My wife and I are just getting around to writing thank you letters to all the fantastic people in Vancouver for their amazing support. We needed to thank Stacey in a way that showed how much we appreciated her hard work. She wrote letters, emails and didn’t stop until someone listened. She did it!!!
Please if you can do anything to let her know we didn’t forget and how much she affected us. A good deed should never go unnoticed.
