February 2007: Joachim Nidua of Westin Bayshore Vancouver Hotel
Attention: Mr. Danny Crowell, General Manager
Dear Mr. Crowell,
I would like to commend one of your very capable staff members by the name of Joachim Nidua, who went far beyond the call of duty.
On December 28, 2006, I was visiting the wonderful city of Vancouver, from which I recently moved after a wonderful nine year stay, when a catastrophe occurred. I was minutes away from catching a float plane over to Vancouver Island, when I realized my purse was missing. This meant I was left without cash, credit or debits cards, and personal identification.
In a moment of panic, I entered your beautiful hotel and told my story to your concierge. Without hesitation, Joachim, a switchboard operator, instantly was on the phone with the appropriate people who I thought would be able to enlighten me of the whereabouts of my lost purse. He then contacted my bank to proceed with cancelling my credit cards. Joachim was professional and courteous throughout the whole situation, even when he had to deal with one person who was neither polite nor helpful. Moreover, he was genuinely persistent in finding a happy ending to my dilemma.
I was given a taxi voucher, compliments of the Westin Bayshore Vancouver, which enabled me to continue my travels and also retrieve my lost purse.
Although I was not even a guest at your hotel, Joachim was completely attentive and gracious during the entire time he assisted me. To me, this means that all Westin Bayshore Vancouver staff truly cares about human beings in times of trouble, as well as taking very good care of their guests while they are staying at the hotel.
I truly felt my experience at the Westin Bayshore Vancouver was extraordinary. I continue to tell this story to many people and I will certainly be sure to stay at the hotel on my next visit to Vancouver.
